Staff explaining rock origins to a young boy

Geoscience Australia Open Day

Geoscience Australia's annual Open Day offers a diverse program of free hands-on activities, science displays and talks for all ages. Learn about the exciting range of work carried out by Australia's national geoscience agency.

Kids can erupt their own volcano or go gold panning like a traditional miner! Bring your own rock from home to have it identified by one of the geologists! Become a sea floor detective or catch the Minecraft and Pokémon talks. Talk to a real geoscientist, learn about geoscience careers and find out what goes on in this mysterious building.

Café Rocco will be offering hot food, morning and afternoon tea snacks. There will also be a sausage sizzle. Alternately take along a packed lunch and enjoy the lawns surrounding the building.
