The Sydney Lawyers Orchestra 'Classics in the Court'

The Sydney Lawyers Orchestra presents works by Haydn, Mozart and Elgar and the premiere of a forgotten work by Frederick Septimus Kelly, an Australian composer who died 100 years ago on the Western Front. Led by violinist and conductor Thomas Jones the orchestra brings together talented musicians from across the legal profession in Sydney. The orchestra is proudly supported by Corrs Chambers Westgarth where Thomas Jones is a partner.

Since its debut in 2014, the Sydney Lawyers Orchestra has been regularly performing for the general community in Sydney and has held a number of concerts at historic churches in Sydney. It has also helped in fundraising for charitable causes, recently supporting the fundraising efforts of Save the Children Australia for the victims of Cyclone Winston in Fiji. In December 2015, it performed with the NSW Bar Choir in support of The Katrina Dawson Foundation.

The orchestra's performances have been described as 'wonderful' and 'utterly magical' and its conductor was recently featured in an article in the Law Society of NSW Journal where he commented upon the ‘transformational power’ of music.
