Spot Your Canberra Relly
Artist Joan A Holt (1926 to 2005) painted hundreds of local Canberra residents, nearly all of them still unidentified. Head out to this first exhibition at the Googong Foreshore and see if you can spot a relly!
There will be a book launch of the artist's memoir, nearly forty paintings on display and one special portrait of Canberra Historian, Manning Clark, going up for auction with proceeds going to The Cancer Support Group.
This is a celebration of the art of Joan A Holt who painted in Canberra for more than two decades, mainly portraits of resident unknown sitters. It is also in honour of her fight with bowel cancer and all Australians dealing with cancer in general. To continue the fight against this disease and offer support to those affected by it, 'Spot Your Canberra Relly' hopes to become an annual event every May 7, the date of Joan Holt's father's birthday; her biggest fan.
This year will be the first ever exhibition of her art, but may be the last chance these unknown faces will be recognised! It is also a celebration of the unique ACT/NSW alliance and those living it.
