'winter drawings' by Lucienne Rickard
Lucienne Rickard is an extraordinarily talented young artist from Hobart. Her work is marked by a sharp eye for detail, zealous imagination and a fastidious, almost obsessive, mode of execution. Using controlled and repetitive pencil strokes, Lucienne presents the viewer with richly detailed, textured and challenging winter drawings works that unite themes of beauty, death, brutality and obsession.
Having completed her PhD in Fine Arts at the University of Tasmania, Lucienne has exhibited with Beaver Galleries since 2010. She has had much success since, including a sellout showing by the gallery at the inaugural Sydney Contemporary art fair in 2013. In 2014, she was selected to participate in “Primavera”, the Museum of Contemporary Art’s annual showing of bold new work from young Australian artists.
