Dirk Hartog 1616–2016: Collection Talk

To mark the 400th anniversary of the Hartog voyage, join Maps Curator Martin Woods and author Allen Mawer as they revisit the experiences of the Hartog expedition, and the events that follow.

Hartog was a seventeenth century Dutch explorer, whose 1616 expedition visited the west coast of Australia. The inscribed plate that he left behind on Dirk Hartog Island is the oldest-known artefact of European exploration in Australia.
