Antarctica Day

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Antarctic Treaty, Rupert Summerson and friends will perform music with Antarctic connections, including songs written on one of Captain Scott’s Antarctic voyages, and a piece of music played on the first Japanese expedition in 1912.

Antarctica Day was instituted on 1 December 2009 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Antarctic Treaty. This date is now an annual event, with celebrations held all over the world.
