Australia Celebrates Live
Celebrations across the country kick off with the announcement of the recipients of the Australian of the Year Awards, followed by the Australia Celebrates Live concert, on 25 January on the lawns of Parliament House in Canberra.
Now in its 11th year, Australia Celebrates Live is a free concert held on Australia Day Eve. Every year a high calibre of popular Australia singers perform at the free concert, including the likes of Matt Corby, Megan Washington, Jessica Mauboy, Jimmy Barnes, Guy Sebastian, INXS, Paul Kelly, Lee Kernaghan and The Wiggles.
Canberra celebrations for Australia Day
If sleeping in is not your style the day after the concert then head to Stage 88 at Commonwealth Park, where Australia Day in the Park kicks off the celebrations early. Thanks to the Great Aussie Day Breakfast, the most important meal of the day is taken care of for free. After fuelling up the whole family, watch the National Flag Raising and Citizenship Ceremony before enjoying the entertainment line-up featuring, plus amusement rides, jumping castles and family games.
Join the crowds at Regatta Point, Rond Terrace or the lawns of the National Library of Australia that evening to watch the sky light up with colour at the Fireworks Spectacular.
Visit Canberra for the weekend. There is no better place to be on Australia Day than in the nation’s capital.
