The Australian Running Festival

All roads lead to Canberra in autumn for the annual Australian Running Festival being held over a weekend each April.

Incorporating The Canberra Times Canberra Marathon along with a half marathon and fun runs, the Australian Running Festival offers an event for all abilities, from serious runners to joggers, wheelchairs, pushers and walkers.
The running routes showcase the nation’s capital at its autumn best, taking runners past iconic Canberra buildings and scenery.

The Australian Running Festival aims to raise much needed funds for more than 180 charities.

Running in Canberra

Canberra has extensive running facilities for any level. You can find outstanding cross country tracks at Stromlo Forest Park, extensive bush running tracks along the Canberra Centenary Trail, and around Lake Burley Griffin you can join hundreds of active joggers for a lunch time run.
Canberra is also home to active triathlon, duathlon, orienteering, rogaining and adventure sports communities. With the highest participation in sport and recreation activities per capita in Australia*, Canberra offers some of the finest opportunities.
