I'm a big fan of the cheeseboard AND the dessert: you can have it all! And when it comes to visiting wineries with the family, I like to think the whole family can have it all too. A relaxed wine tasting, plus an experience the kids will enjoy? Absolutely.
Below are some of my favourite wineries in the Canberra region to visit with the kids. They will all make you feel completely welcome, have a bucket of toys or activities, and are happy for you to pace the tasting how you want.

Lake George Winery
Here the kids can go on a vineyard walk, ride the tractor, and feed Harry the Sheep and the horses. Cute!

McKellar Ridge Wines
There's a huge lawn for kids to run around while parents sit back and enjoy a relaxed tasting of quality Canberra wines.

Four Winds Vineyard
Anyone who's had a toddler knows pizza ovens are a source of endless fascination (better than a tv!). This space was designed with families in mind - there's a huge space to run around in and I haven't yet met the kid who doesn't eat pizza.

Contentious Character Winery
There's great open space, a lovely relaxed team, and games, chess boards and more to keep everyone happy. Fur children are welcome too!

Yarrh Wines
This spot is just idyllic. The recent refresh of the cellar door, as well as its beautiful aspect, means you can sit at the front courtyard with views to the vineyard and enjoy a tasting while the kids play on the lawn in front of you.

Poachers Pantry
Incredible dining, great wine tasting, and my kids love to explore the kitchen gardens here.

Murrumbateman Winery
The space is welcoming, unfussy, and the winery often runs events for your fur children – my favourite is their annual Mollie’s “Good Dog” Christmas Party.

Lerida Estate
The fun pétanque court is great for older kids and family games, and the views across Lake George are incredible.

Tallangandra Hill Winery
There’s a colourful climbing frame in the courtyard, which makes this a great space to stop and linger over some wines while the kids burn off some energy.

I'd definitely recommend booking ahead as places can fill up fast, especially with current restrictions.
These are just a few wineries in our beautiful Canberra wine region, but there are many more! Do you have a favourite?
