Overview

Join oud virtuoso and multi-ARIA-Award-winner Joseph Tawadros and world-class percussionist James Tawadros for a remarkable evening of music.

Recognised for challenging traditional musical forms and boundaries, the Egyptian–Australian Tawadros Brothers’ performances have dazzled, exhilarated and enchanted audiences around the globe.

Featuring the original compositions of Joseph Tawadros, their music fuses Middle Eastern, classical, jazz, folk, metal and bluegrass traditions with boundless energy and innovation.

Joseph and James Tawadros have recorded 19 albums and been nominated 19 times in the ARIA Awards, winning in 2012, 2013 and 2014 and again in 2020, 2021, 2022. As soloists and as a duo they have been recognised worldwide and have performed in some of the world’s most prestigious venues.

They have also collaborated with celebrated artists such as Roy Ayers, Bela Fleck, Richard Bona, Zakir Hussain, Andreas Scholl, John Abercrombie, John Patitucci, Richard Tognetti and orchestras including the Australian Chamber Orchestra, the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and Camerata Salzburg to name a few.

This special event is presented in association with the major exhibition Discovering Ancient Egypt.
