The Dataset is bold new contemporary dance work by Canberra’s award-winning Australian Dance Party.

A dance between two bodies, light, sound, and data, The Dataset imagines a world where dancers physicalise the data that forms them and interrogate its purpose and power. What happens when the system rules the people? What happens when the system is broken?

Arrive into the dark industrial location of The Vault and enter into the data centre. Here the dancers are uploaded, stored and dictated by self perpetuating prescribed codes.

With the integration of bodies, light, sound and data, The Dataset explores the complex relationship between humanity and data. It contemplates the consequences of living in a society where data systems wield significant influence and question the implications of system failure on individual autonomy.
