Lake Bathurst Cabins

Overview

Lake Bathurst is a historical first discovered in 1818 by James Meehan, a freed convict. In the 1950's was a popular destination for the village, the lake was full of water, and skiing and power boats drew large crowds.

Today the location of the cabins is where people disembarked from the train to go to the lake. The train station is a heritage site as are several of the properties surrounding St John's church.

If you enjoy wild birdlife you will find many different birds including black swans and ducks on the lake.

You are welcome to walk around the property and onto nearby railway-owned land alongside the cabins, church and old stone building primary school now a private property. It leads to Bongaralaby Creek, one of the many that lead to Lake Bathurst.
