The Canberra and Region Visitors Centre invites you to join them. Take a break from your phone and let your hands be involved in the creativity and productivity of making objects. Here’s three unique workshops on offer at the Canberra and Region Visitors Centre.
Egg Picnic x Megalo Print Studio Workshop
Get into the Christmas in July spirit with a premium, hands-on workshop filled with creativity, connection, and thoughtful handmade gifting. Guided by the incredible design team from Egg Picnic in addition to being supported technically by the highly skilled printmakers of Megalo Print Studio, you'll create a unique tote bag to keep or gift in this one-off, exclusive experience celebrating local makers. When your hands aren’t busy printing, enjoy a custom festive spiced hot chocolate, courtesy of Walter Café.
Paint Your Way with Popcorn Art
For those who have some prior painting experience, you’re invited to develop and refine your practice under the guidance of local artist Jenny Adams. Inspired by the natural world and its vital role in mental wellbeing, her work is characterised by strong shapes, vibrant colour palettes and decorative elements. Participants will have time to plan, layer and resolve a more complex artwork, with feedback from Jenny throughout the session. With all materials provided, participants will take home a completed artwork.
Matcha Masterclass with Teddy’s Matcha
Join Teddy’s Matcha for a hands-on workshop where science, culture, and creativity meet in every cup. The session begins with the story behind the business — from a background in chemistry and time spent living in Japan, to the experiences that inspired a deep love of matcha and the journey to bringing that passion to Canberra. At its heart, Teddy’s Matcha is about building a community centred around appreciation, learning, and connection. Attendees will explore what makes matcha truly special, learning how to choose a high-quality matcha, understand flavour profiles and common terminology, and discover what differentiates one matcha from another. The workshop then moves into a practical, hands-on session where participants will prepare iced matcha together. Guidance will be provided on preparation techniques, whisking methods, matcha-to-milk ratios, and flavour pairings using Teddy’s Matcha’s house-made syrups. Complementing the experience is a complete matcha kit for you to take home. Teddy’s are also very happy for you to bring your own kit, if you prefer.
