Gallery of Small Things
Overview
The Gallery of Small Things is Canberra's tiniest gallery showcasing emerging and established artists in the Visual Arts. It is less than six metres square and brings international, interstate and local artists to a Canberra backyard. Gallery of Small Things is about makers and designers who love texture, form, and fabulous and small.
Visitors will see works in ceramics, jewellery, mixed media, paintings, photography, print media, textiles and wood. For ten months of the year, a stable of artists' work is on show. They have two shows, including an annual group show in September/October. The founder and director and local ceramic artist, Anne Masters, is keen to promote emerging artists and graduates from art and design studies, providing them with an excellent stepping-stone to showcase works alongside those of established artists in an intimate and supportive space. She also offers professional practice workshops for visual artists and art organisations.
Gallery of Small Things is a hidden award-winning tourist gem and allows visitors to experience art in the suburbs. With an artist's studio next door and cottage gardens, it’s a place for people to unplug from life's complexities and enjoy the smallest of beautiful simplicities.
