Blue Frog Truffle Farm
Blue Frog Truffle Farm
Overview
The Blue Frog Truffle Farm (or truffiere), has been harvesting black truffles (T. melanosporum) since 2007. The farm is located just north of Canberra (5 kilometres from the ACT border), close to the Federal Highway and was established in 2003 with the planting of just over two hectares of oaks and hazelnut trees.
The area was increased in 2008, with additional oaks, to approximately 4.5 hectares.
The Blue Frog Farm owners, Wayne, Lanie and son Justin Haslam harvest twice a week and conduct truffle hunts on Sunday, during the harvest season for the general public, from mid June until mid August.
