Overview

Michael Armstrong Studio is a solo art & gallery. Michael Armstrong (Mike) is one of Australia's most benevolent, intuitive, technical and innovative artists. Deliberate and detailed in his distinct personal style, Mike is renowned for his nude female figures, metaphorical portraits of veterans, alluring paintings, and dynamic sketches.

Mike's work expresses individual qualities. Hinting at an enigma, he brings together personal elements that vacillate between beauty and realism. Using layering and tactile substances, Mike ignites the viewer's curiosity with suggestions of movement, embodiment and veiled meaning. With the ability to evoke emotion and create mesmerising and meaningful allegories, Mike has been a finalist in many prestigious art prizes, and his works are held in numerous public and private collections in Australia and overseas.

In his art practice, Mike has developed distinct themes and a unique style for creating art from life. Best known for his nude portraits of veterans and friends, Mike's practice has also extended to figurative sculpture in bronze and resin, bringing his work to life.

Mike's original paintings, drawings (prints and original works) and unique sculptures are available to view by appointment.

The studio space is thoughtfully designed for accessibility and maximum engagement. It is a shared space with Flow and Food Yoga & Ayurveda and Rogue Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
