Overview

Science, art and film are among the most powerful cultural institutions developed to understand, shape and envision the world.

Screening monthly for free at NFSA's Arc Cinema, Science. Art. Film. is a series that uncovers wacky, weird and wonderful facets of science and art in films. Films are screened in discussion with artists and Australian National University (ANU) scholars from different disciplines.

Screenings in Semester 2, 2024 include:
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018)
The Thing (1982)
Crimes of the Future (2022)
2067 (2020)

Science. Art. Film. is a collaboration between the National Film and Sound Archive of Australia and Popsicule, the Science in Pop Culture and Entertainment Hub at the Australian National University (ANU). The series is supported by the ANU-based Australian National Centre for the Public Awareness of Science, the ANU Humanities Research Centre and the ANU SynBio Initiative.
