Overview

Cassie Abraham, Luke John Matthew Arnold, Gemma Brown, Madeline Cardone, Bailey Donovan, Skye Jamieson, Isabelle Mackay-Sim

An Offsite exhibition presented at the SLA Display Village and Innovation Precinct in Whitlam.

pivot/al features a selection of artworks and functional ware for a domestic context.

Chosen works expand the idea of living with art, through a juxtaposition of mediums, styles, and subject matters. Works are material driven, textural, bold and with a focus on the hand of the maker being present, creating a dynamic and diverse collection of contemporary art in a modern sustainable domestic setting.

The artists selected to exhibit with an emphasis on the sustainability and malleability of an artistic practice. Artists from a range of backgrounds are put together based on how they have managed and continue a creative arts practice around life. Whether this be through the art of the 'pivot', sustaining practice around 9 – 5 jobs, creating high art and functional designs, or a melting pot of factors that have led to pivotal moments in the practice they have today.

The exhibition is located in three SLA display homes within the SLA Display Village, showcasing art in a domestic setting.

Curated by Louis Grant for Belco Arts.
