Art Exhibition - A Shifting Perspective by Lesley Sykes

A translucent colour painting of willow trees that uses a technique of scratching into the surface

Overview

Rusten House Art Centre presents an exhibition of paintings by Lesley Sykes

In A Shifting Perspective, artist Lesley Sykes draws inspiration from her beautiful, light-filled studio at Mongarlowe. Cluttered with collected objects and opening out to an overgrown garden and creek beyond, this environment informs Sykes's paintings - interiors, still-life and the wild garden spaces. The works showcase a sgraffito technique - scratching into the surface rather than drawing onto it. Colour is applied and rubbed back to a translucent finish, her paintings evoke the idea of spaces and objects - where forms distort, planes tilt and and objects intersect and overlap.

Meet the artist at their Opening Event - Saturday 28th June 2-4pm.

Please Note: Rusten House Art Centre is open Wednesday - Saturday 10am -4pm
