Overview
Heat and stretch your very own authentic neon sign in this one-of-a-kind weekend class.
Join Walgalu / Wiradjuri artist Aidan Hartshorn and his father Shane Herrington for an engaging three-hour tool workshop exploring the relationship between traditional and contemporary material practices demonstrating methods of stone tool construction.
As a part of the workshop Aidan Hartshorn will present on his recent body of work in conjunction with his exhibition at Canberra Glassworks exploring the ongoing industrial disruptions impacting Walgalu and Wiradjuri connections to space and place. Using industrial materials, particularly glass and construction elements, his work reflects a personal journey of crafting contemporary cultural objects in these mediums while examining the degradation of his ancestral landscape. He will then offer a tool making demonstration and a hands on glass and stone workshop.
This workshop offers a rare opportunity to engage with two artists working across traditional knowledge and contemporary practice—ideal for anyone interested in Indigenous perspectives and material exploration.
