Overview

The NFSA presents two special Q&A screenings celebrating Australian stories on screen.

See the Crocodile Dundee: The Encore Cut, a remastered and re-edited version of Australia's highest-grossing film. The 1986 classic follows New York reporter Sue Charlton (Linda Kozlowski) as she ventures into the outback to meet the rugged Mick Dundee (Paul Hogan), then lures him to Manhattan. This new 4K remaster with an Atmos soundtrack refreshes the film's charm while sparking fresh conversations about Australian identity, masculinity, race, and Australia's cultural ties with the US. The screening is followed by a Q&A with Restoration Producers Delvene Delaney and Victoria Baldock.

Then enjoy Harder & Harder (2025), which takes audiences inside the comeback of "The Most Australian Band Ever" the Hard-Ons. Three years after their breakup, the band returns as "yesterday's heroes" to a music industry transformed by new trends, shifting line-ups, and the pressures of cancel culture. Despite the challenges, their dedication to music endures—though their survival is far from certain. The screening is followed by a Q&A with director Jonathan J Sequeira.
