Set in post-WWI Australia, the novel follows war veteran Jack O'Rourke, who inherits a rural property after saving a stranger's life—only to return years later and find that man brutally murdered. As Jack investigates, he uncovers a town full of secrets, rivalries, and hidden motives.

A L Booth is the author of eight novels, including Stillwater Creek, A Perfect Marriage, and The Philosopher's Daughters—all highly commended in ACT literary awards.
