Tours at the Mint - Floriade About Town

Couple on a free guided tour at the Mint

Overview

Spring in Canberra means one thing – Floriade About Town. As the city comes alive with vibrant colours, the Royal Australian Mint is celebrating the season with floral-inspired tours and treats.

Visitors are encouraged to make the Mint part of their Floriade adventure. Free daily tours are on offer, where guests can discover how flowers have been beautifully immortalised on Australian coins. From native blossoms to commemorative designs, these coins tell stories of the nation through floral imagery.

Following the tour, visitors can enjoy a special Floriade-themed menu at the Mint Café. Highlights include a delicate flower cupcake, rose-infused French toast with strawberry ice-cream, and a soothing lavender latte. These limited-edition creations provide a perfect sweet stop during Floriade travels — and are just as photogenic as they are delicious.

The Royal Australian Mint remains one of Canberra's must-visit attractions. As a working factory, it offers a rare opportunity to watch coins being made from a public viewing platform. Visitors can also explore Reflection, an exhibition that celebrates Australia's national flower, the golden wattle, and its significant role in the Australian honours system.
