Overview

In a world of mass production, machine-made products, how many people these days ever meet the maker of their objects – or even know what they are really made of?

The ACT Woodcraft Guild is truly one of the Canberra Region's treasures. A unique place for woodcraft, open to public membership, with a diverse group of around 450 local members at all levels, from complete beginner to skilled artisan.

ACT Woodcraft Guild members make beautiful hand-crafted objects from various local Canberra region timbers and recycled timbers.

The ACT Woodcraft Guild has over twenty different special interest groups, including small box making, woodturning, furniture making, pyrography, scroll saw, bush craft (traditional hand tool woodworking), toy making, a school and community program, computers in woodcraft, and many more.

The ACT Woodcraft Guild's annual exhibition and sale will be held at the Australian National Botanical Gardens in the Banksia Room with free entry.

Visit the ACT Woodcraft Guild members at the National Botanic Gardens, meet the makers, find those perfect gifts (Christmas is just around the corner after all), see various demonstrations, learn more about the ACT Woodcraft Guild, and maybe consider becoming a member.
