Overview

This year marks 100 years since the Canberra City Band has been entertaining Canberrans! Much of the history of the band is inextricably linked to the history of Canberra. Established by the construction workers brought in to build the city, the band was the social hub of Canberra for many years. Even now, the band is called to perform for important guests to the city, or even play at local community groups and school fetes.

They are celebrating this year the best way they know how - with a concert at Albert Hall.

They would like to invite the community and visitors along, especially those who have had a link with the band, whether they saw them play a gig, played with the band, or their family members played with them. Concert Bands will be performing from 13:00 (doors open from 12:10).

Big Bands will be performing from 7pm (see the program for more details). Many people will come to either the afternoon or evening component - but people are welcome to come all day!
