The Warp & the Weft: In Conversation

The back of a tapestry being woven by people on the other side

Overview

Thread your way through the world of tapestry and technique as they reveal the inspiration behind – and the technical brilliance of – Arthur Boyd's Life of St Francis Tapestries. Join Vera Fino (Director, Manufactura de Tapeçarias de Portalegre, Portugal), Sophie Travers (Co-Director/CEO of the Australian Tapestry Workshop) and the National Gallery's Elspeth Pitt (Senior Curator, Australian Art) as they go behind the scenes to examine Boyd's depiction of humanity in the reflection of divinity.

Hosted by National Gallery Director Nick Mitzevich, join a conversation exploring this extraordinary collaboration, and celebrate an artist whose impact continues to loom large on the cultural landscape.
