The Wild Alpine Summits and Coastal Trails of the Southeast
The Wild Alpine Summits and Coastal Trails of the Southeast
Overview
Setting out from Canberra on a scenic loop, experience the best capital, coastal, creek, and mountain walks that southeast NSW, northeast Victoria and the ACT have to offer, while also learning about the indigenous and European history of these areas.
Enjoy extended stays in unique accommodation, a feature of this two-week tour. In Canberra, experience the best of the national gardens and parks such as the Arboretum and Namadgi National Park. The walks here give you a picture of early settler life as you step back in time.
While staying at Jervis Bay, enjoy walks in Booderee National Park, exploring coastal cliffs, sandy beaches, lakes alongside heath, mangrove and forest ecosystems. You also visit the country's only botanic gardens, owned and managed by Indigenous custodians.
Continuing south along the scenic coastline into northeast Victoria, the relaxed coastal town of Mallacoota offers historic lodge accommodation, a relaxing place to rest after half and full day walks in Croajingolong National Park.
From your base at Lake Crackenback near Jindabyne, explore Mt Kosciuszko and the Thredbo River on day walks. In the northern area of Kosciuszko National Park, visit the richly decorated limestone caverns of Yarrangobilly Caves.
