Australian Alps Walking Track: Thredbo to Hotham
Australian Alps Walking Track: Thredbo to Hotham
Overview
Bridging the gap between the Snowy Mountains and the Victorian Alps, the middle third of the 680-kilometre Australian Alps Walking Track (AAWT) takes you through a wilderness landscape largely untouched by modern life. This journey ventures deep into the heart of the High Country, offering a rare solitude found only in the most inaccessible corners of Victoria and New South Wales.
Cross the source of the Murray River, visit historic huts, and tackle a traverse of the Bogong High Plains. There are plenty of peaks to summit, including Mt Bogong and Mt Feathertop – Victoria's highest mountains.
Beyond the physical journey, this trip is an immersive learning experience. Their expert guides are dedicated to helping you level up your bushwalking skills. Refine your gear systems, master hiking nutrition, and practice off-track navigation. This trip is your chance to build the toolkit needed for future adventures, whether that's a local multi-day loop or an international thru hike.
