Busby Marou's Guide to Canberra
Updated 9 Oct 2026
Busby Marou spend their days on the road, and nights performing gigs.
When recently visiting Canberra for Floriade’s NightFest, Thomas and Jeremy of Busby Marou swapped their tech rehearsals for trees, amps for ales, and beats for boats in a fun-filled day around Canberra.
Treetops Adventure
“Straight off the plane and into the wild. It’s incredible that you can land in Australia’s capital, and minutes later be surrounded by trees, not a building in sight. Treetops Adventure is a maze of ropes courses, nets, ziplines, all tacked into existing trees.
While Tom’s relationship with heights is shaky, there was still plenty for him to do – the zipline was the perfect blend of adventure and feeling the benefits of being in nature and moving your body. We saw people of all ages taking on the courses, the little ones seemed the most keen to tackle the black runs way up high in the canopy. We can’t wait to come back at do this with our families.”
Bentspoke Brewery
“After the excitement of Treetops, we headed to Braddon for lunch. This BrewPub has 26 different beers and ciders, all brewed onsite. We opted for a paddle each, to sample a spread of their core range and limited release styles. The Bentspoke venue is brimming with fun details, like hand welded tap handles, and nods to their cycling heritage scattered from the walls to roof and beyond.
We loved their commitment to using ingredients from the brewing process across their menu – like their pickled jalapeno queso IPA dip or flank steakwith dark ale pickles onion rings and chips with hop salt.
We left filled, fuelled and happy.”
GoBoat
“As keen fishermen, we’ve spent many hours out on the water. GoBoat gives everyone a chance to appreciate the beauty of being on the water, while learning and loving the sights of Canberra. We made our way up into the central basin, past the National Carillon which captured our hearts – unreal to see an instrument in use in such a public way. From the water we spotted Commonwealth Park where we would be playing the next day, saw families on the foreshore walking and riding about, and so many of the cultural attractions that house important Australian stories.
The perfect spot for a picnic and to take in the afternoon sunshine.”
"The day was an unreal opportunity to connect with our capital city, a welcome reprieve from a busy tour schedule."
