Updated 28 May 2026
Need warming up this winter? Here are Canberra’s best hot chocolates to keep you cozy this winter.
Warm up like a local. Canberra hosts an abundance of cafés which serve a mixture of delicious drinks, food and sweet treats, all while being amongst an ambient atmosphere. Here are the best options extending across Canberra’s North, South and City Centre.
Hot tip - Not all café’s automatically serve your hot chocolate with marshmallows, so if you enjoy the extra sweet chewy goodness in your drink, ask for marshmallows for the extra sweet hit.
Double Shot in Deakin
Situated in the Inner South, near to the Prime Minister's Lodge is Double Shot Deakin. Double Shot’s Belgian hot chocolate is the perfect mix of milky and rich. They offer a plethora of flavour options including milk, dark, white, top deck and chocolate overdose. Once you’ve finished sipping on the milk, you’ll get to enjoy the real chocolate that has sunk to the bottom.
B-Side in Braddon
B-Side in Braddon sits in the perfect spot for a day out. Only a 10-minute walk from the City Centre, B-Side is surrounded by popular international and locally owned businesses. Served in a handleless cup rather than a mug, the drink presents a taste which is not overwhelmingly rich, nice and frothy. A great spot to warm up while having a day out in Braddon.
Cesar’s Café in Florey
Cesar’s Café brings the vibe of a Colombian café all the way to Canberra. Only a 5 minute drive from the Belconnen Westfield in the North of Canberra, Cesar’s Café is the perfect local escape. Their Belgian hot chocolate is made with real Belgian chocolate. Effortlessly rich and smooth, Caeser’s offers the perfect North side sip.
Intra in Campell
Intra’s hot chocolate provides a more organic taste. Positioned between the City Centre and the Australian War Memorial (a five minute drive to both), Intra is the perfect café break during your National Triangle tour. Offering a slightly bitter natural cocoa taste, these hot chocolate’s are perfect for those who harbour less of the sweet tooth, but still want to stay warm in the colder months.
Space Kitchen in Phillip
If you’re after a modern take on the hot chocolate that is fun for the family, Space Kitchen in the inner south’s Woden Valley is for you. The menu provides fun, innovative versions of the café staple’s you know and love. You’ll never have a boring bite (think French toast with meringue, or eggs benedict with creamed corn). They offer 3 options; traditional hot chocolate, Nutella hot chocolate and a Malteser hot chocolate. These hot chocolates are great options for those who have a sweet tooth.
Corin Forest in the Tidbinbilla Mountain Ranges
Enjoy a hot chocolate amongst the snow topped gum trees out at Canberra’s only snow field, Corin Forest. A day out at the snow isn’t complete without sipping on a delicious hot chocolate by the fire place. Corin Forest’s café is the perfect spot for some R&R, and their hot chocolate will be sure to warm up the whole family after a long day skiing.
Jasper and Myrtle in Fyshwick
This specialty chocolate shop at the Dairy Road district near the Canberra Airport offers hot chocolates that are creamy and smooth. The Dairy Road district has great experiences for a whole range of ages. Jasper and Myrtle sits amongst the likes of Canberra legends like Capital Brewing Co. and BlocHaus Bouldering. Jasper and Myrtle sell a hot chocolate powder as well, so you can continue to enjoy the experience at home.
Urban Pantry in Griffith
Urban Pantry in the inner south is situated near Lake Burley Griffin, and right across the road from the Manuka Oval. A great spot to hit before or after an AFL or cricket game. They have five variations of their Belgian hot chocolates, to accompany the ambient lively vibe of their café. Every member of the family will be sure to find the flavour of hot chocolate to their liking.
