The ultimate relaxing weekend in Canberra: where to stay, eat, and unwind

Updated 27 Jun 2025

Escape to Canberra for a rejuvenating wellness weekend.

Looking for the perfect way to unwind after a busy week? Whether you're craving a spa day, a stroll through lush rainforests, or a peaceful cruise on Lake Burley Griffin, Canberra has something to suit every kind of relaxation. Solo escape or group getaway, this city invites you to slow down, breathe deeply, and embrace the art of taking it easy.

Friday afternoon

Where to stay

Begin your retreat by checking into your own tiny home at Cubby and Co, nestled in the vines at Mount Majura Vineyard. It’s an ideal way to disconnect from the virtual world and sink into your own private, outdoor oasis. If you’d like something a little more boutique and spacious, head to Beltana Farm, just near Canberra Airport. Choose between a charming cottage or a spacious yurt, each offering a cosy blend of country charm and modern comfort.

If you’re drawn to a more urban setting, stay at the Ovolo Nishi hotel in the creative New Acton precinct; a perfect base to begin exploring the city sights.

Friday night

After settling in, release the reigns and let awarded chefs feed you with the rotating menu at Such and Such featuring a contemporary take on nostalgic classics.

After dinner, wander over to Bar Rochford, a stylish bar known for its vinyl-spun soundtrack, candlelit tables, and expertly crafted cocktails. It’s a great spot to toast to the weekend.
